Makapu'u Duo
The lifeguards were closing up for the day as two friends were making the short trek down to Makapu'u Beach Park to catch sunset surf. The light colors and intricate shape of the large Hau tree contrasted beautifully with the towering ridges that surround the bay. The colors in the valley of Makapu'u were naturally radiant. Makapu'u is located on the eastern end of the Island of O'ahu and boasts of a ridge that rises over 600 feet above sea level. The cliff at Makapu'u Point forms the eastern tip of Oahu and is home to the Makapu'u lighthouse.
